Stripe currency conversion fees for non-U.S. accounts (and updated creator terms)

We’re writing to share an update about a Stripe fee that applies to non-U.S. accounts and to note a few general updates to our creator terms

Hey Creator,

We’re writing to share an update about a Stripe fee that applies to non-U.S. accounts and to note a few general updates to our creator terms. The details below best reflect our current understanding of the situation.

We recently noticed that connected Stripe accounts not registered in the United States are subject to a foreign currency conversion fee of 1% on transactions to convert the currency into their account currency. This was shown via an update to our Stripe dashboard.

We had previously asked Stripe about this fee & received confusing information. Their fee information on their website is also unclear so we are currently working directly with them to understand how this has historically been charged and how it will be charged in the future. Once we have more information from them, we can share more.

Who this may affect:

  • Likely affected: Creators whose connected Stripe accounts are not registered in the United States.

  • Not affected: Creators whose connected Stripe accounts are registered in the United States.

What we’re doing:

  • Continuing conversations with Stripe to confirm the precise details in which this fee applies.

  • Updating our terms to note that Stripe assesses this fee for non-U.S. accounts.

We’ve also made a few general clarifications in the terms. Please review the updated creator terms here: Click to read

We’ll share more details once we have more specifics from Stripe.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Best regards,
Mathew & The Solin Team
